Let's talk skates. If you've priced out a top-end custom skate elsewhere lately, you already know the number. A MyBauer custom skate can run up to about $1,400 at U.S. retailers right now. That's before tax, before steel upgrades, before you've even laced them up.
Here's the thing: you can get a custom skate built to order, with your colors and your name and number on the tongue, for $800. That's the AH Lightning Player Skate from All Hockey. Same idea, a skate made for you, for about $600 less.

Why We Built a Custom Skate
I'm Bailey Conger. I played NCAA D1 at Providence and Colorado College and pro in the ECHL with the Idaho Steelheads. Now I run All Hockey out of Irving, TX, here in DFW. I've worn a lot of skates. And I've watched a lot of hockey families swallow hard at the register.
Custom skates shouldn't be a luxury only a few players get. You want something light, comfortable, and tough enough to handle a full season. You want it to look like yours. That's what the AH Lightning is about.
Lightweight Without Giving Up Stiffness
The Lightning is built for players who want pro-level stiffness without the weight. It comes in at about 870g in a size 7, with a heat-moldable composite shell.
The outer shell is UHMW-PE plus carbon, so it holds its shape when you're pushing hard. Light on your feet in the third period, stiff when you need power. That's the combo.
Comfortable Right Out of the Gate
Nobody likes a skate that chews up your feet for a month. The Lightning uses a three-layer boot:
- Outer shell: UHMW-PE + carbon that holds its shape.
- Middle layer: shock-absorbing, to spread pressure.
- Inner layer: soft memory foam that wraps your ankle and foot, with no break-in bite.
Add in a heat-moldable fit, plus a microfiber dry liner with memory foam that pulls sweat and locks your heel in place. Your foot stays put, and you stay focused on the play.
The tongue is swappable, too. It's a multi-layer felt tongue that fights lace bite, and you can remove it, raise it, or lower it to match your stride.
Built to Handle Your Season
Durability is about more than the boot. The Lightning runs a stable, secure quick-change holder with a titanium-coated runner, a 5/8" hollow, and an 11' profile. When it's time for fresh steel, you swap it in seconds. No hunting for a shop the morning of a tournament.
Make It Yours
This is the fun part. Every Lightning is made to order, so you pick:
- Boot color: black or white.
- Accent color: one accent color to match your team or your style.
- Letter color: for the lettering.
- Name and number: right on the tongue.

Walk into the room with skates nobody else has. That never gets old.
Sizing: Get It Right the First Time
We offer Intermediate 4–6.5 and Senior 7–11, with half sizes, in Narrow, Standard, or Wide widths.
One important note: All Hockey senior sizes run half a size smaller than Bauer. So if you're a Bauer 9.5, you're an AH 9. Check out our AH Lightning Skate Sizing & About page for the full breakdown.

Not sure of your size? We'll confirm before we build. No guessing, no surprises.
How Long Does It Take?
Made to order. Ships in as little as 30 days. Delivery time may vary depending on the time of season, so if you've got a big tournament or the start of a season coming up, get your order in early.
The Math Is Simple
Other custom skates: can run up to about $1,400. AH Lightning custom: $800. That's roughly $600 back in your pocket. That's ice time, a couple of sticks, camp fees, or gas money for all those early-morning drives to the rink.
You still get a lightweight, heat-moldable composite skate with a three-layer boot, a lace-bite-fighting swappable tongue, a dry liner, quick-change steel, and your own colors, name, and number. Built for you. Priced for real hockey families.
